Battle of the Drums 2010

Another year of outstanding Garifuna drumming, singing, dancing and poetry. My appreciation goes out to all those who preformed. It was a fantastic night of great entertainment with drummers and dancers from across Belize and Beyond. Entertainers from Dangriga, Seine Bight, Georgetown, Hopkins, Barranco, Punta Gorda, Guatemala and Honduras all took to the stage.

We also got to hear poetry performed by Placencia’s own Raquel Battle accompanied by an incredible solo drummer, Joshua Arana.

For me this year one of the highlights of the night was a performance by students of Galen University that hail from across the globe. Credit must be given once again to Master Drum Instructor Joshua Arana for his dedication to Garifuna drumming. Check out this instructional DVD

And finally congratulations goes out to the top 3, Hopkins, Seine Bight and Barranco, who took the win once again.
